Work Experience Placements at Wycombe Swan

Unpaid work placements at Wycombe Swan are for people aged 16 and over, and it is advised that you apply for a placement as far in advance as possible as we receive a high number of requests.

The Wycombe Swan is a receiving house. Therefore, we do not produce our own shows. Our role is to accommodate touring productions and events to our venue.

Work experience at the Swan is suitable for people with a career interest in:

  • Administration - supporting every department and focusing on the general operation of the building.
  • Creative Learning – assisting our holiday workshops or family events.
  • Marketing, Press and PR - supporting the theatre’s work through the provision of professional Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design and Box Office.
  • Hospitality
  • Front of House - shadowing a duty manager during a matinee or evening of a busy performance ensure that audiences have a great experience when they visit our venue.

Placements will NOT be available in Acting, Directing, Producing, Casting, Technical, Props, Make Up or Set Design.

At this time, there are currently no work placements available.

Work experience is not available in the Technical department. However, if this is something you’re interested in, then why not apply to take part in our Spring and Summer projects?

Our Backstage and Technical opportunities offer an exciting experience to work on our major musical as part of the stage management team, assisting with lighting and sound, as well as helping to build and construct our sets and props.

Participants will develop their skills and be involved in a professionally led production.

We have an extremely dedicated group of volunteers that usher and support the shows here at Wycombe Swan. If you feel you have some spare time, need to volunteer as part of a course, degree or qualification and love being in the theatre atmosphere, please contact Karen Hobbs, Volunteer Co-ordinator
