Hospitality

Providing an innovative dining, drinking and conference facilities with theatrical flair requires a range of talented chefs and friendly servers over a range of levels and employment types.  

Ticket Office

The approachable Ticket Office team provide excellent customer service while proactively selling tickets in this customer-facing role offering fun and flexibility.

 

Technical

Often the hidden function of a theatre, these heroes make the show happen from assisting with the ‘get-in’ to managing the sound and lighting. 

 

Marketing

The marketing and promotions teams ensure our customers know about the broad-range of incredible events within the venues' many spaces in this busy but exciting department.

 

Administration and Management

Off the stage a gifted group of administrators, finance and management teams ensure the venues run smoothly.

Stage Door Keeper | Part-Time | 20 Hours

Wycombe Swan are looking for a part-time Stage Door Keeper!
The role of the Stage Door Keeper is to be a professional, helpful and friendly first point of contact for all visitors to the building. This is a safety-critical role, supporting the delivery of fire safety and security to the building, and being a vital link in reporting of incidents and evacuation. Members of the Stage Door team are responsible for opening or closing the building and helping to ensure key administrative and building processes run smoothly.

Our ideal candidate will be confident, outgoing and a welcoming team player. They will have experience of working in a busy environment, dealing with a range of customers whilst maintaining exemplary levels of service. They will be able to remain calm in pressurised situations, be able to work on their own initiative and have excellent communication skills.

Salary: c. £9,500 p.a. dependent on experience, ability and potential

Customer Service Assistant | Part-Time | 30 Hours

The role of the Customer Service Assistant at Wycombe Swan will be to contribute to the achievement of the venues financial, attendance and service targets by being responsible for the sale of tickets, hospitality packages and associated products for shows and events as well delivering the highest standards of customer service. The post also supports the Marketing department with effective delivery of ticketing services and supporting marketing activity.

Our ideal candidate will be confident in dealing with members of the public, have a professional, courteous and ‘can do’ attitude to work and have a strong a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

Salary: c.£14,352 depending on experience, ability and potential

We are looking to appoint multi-skilled technicians with excellent technical skills and experience in either a professional, educational or performance environment. The applicant should be calm under pressure, a good problem solver and be able to work well as part of a team.
 
Salary: £8.91 per hour (gross) plus TMA (Get out rates ONLY) when applicable.

Maintenance Technician (Casual)

We are looking to appoint a Casual Maintenance Technician to assist the Buildings and Technical Manager with keeping the building looking clean and presentable and in a good working order. Our ideal candidate will have previous practical experience, be able to work confidently with a variety of tools and equipment and ideally have experience of painting, plumbing, woodworking, minor fault finding and knowledge of Health and Safety legislation. The applicant should be calm under pressure, a good problem solver and be able to work independently but also as part of a team.
 
Salary: £9.41 per hour (gross).

Bar & Restaurant Team Member (Casual)

As a member of the Hospitality department, the purpose of the role is to uphold the conditions of the Theatre Licenses and assist in delivering an efficient conference, banqueting, bars and restaurant operation, ensuring set standards are achieved and maintained.  

The ideal candidate will be able to work a variety of shifts and be flexible in their working patterns, have good customer service skills and a sense of humour. Previous experience is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.

Salary: £8.91 per hour (gross)

Whatever the reasons, volunteering with Wycombe Swan is a really rewarding experience!

As a Wycombe Swan Volunteer Usher you’ll be the face of the theatre, meeting and greeting our guests and ensuring that they have a fantastic experience when they visit us. We’ll train, guide and support you so that you can volunteer for us with knowledge and confidence. We know that everyone has commitments in their lives, so we’re flexible about when you volunteer.

Meet the team

We’re committed to training and developing our staff, preparing them for their next step in whichever direction that might be. Here’s the proof.

Fiona Martin, General Manager 

Fiona has worked in Theatre since she was 15 years old. She studied Technical Theatre at college before deciding that she wanted to pursue a career in a more customer facing role, so did a degree in Arts & Event Management.

After graduating in 2008, Fiona took up a post at the Wycombe Swan as a Catering Duty Manager and has also worked outside the group for other theatres. She says that “working for HQ Theatres has allowed me to widen my experience by working at other venues within the group. I now have responsibility for building relationships with local and corporate partners as well as identifying new hospitality based events. With lots of opportunities for career progression, I must say that it is a really busy environment but one that I find to be highly enjoyable and thoroughly rewarding.” 

 

Kirsty Huntington, Ticket Office Manager

Kirsty has worked at Wycombe Swan for nearly 17 years and has been lucky enough to work in nearly every department within the theatre.

Kirsty says that “I have always felt most at home within the Ticket Office where I started as a casual member of staff and have progressed to managing the whole team. Working in a theatre means no one day is ever the same as the next one; you can have a building full of children watching Ben and Holly then the following day you will have a sold-out ballet. This makes things so interesting, with a variety of excited customers coming through our doors each and every day.”
