SPRING PROJECT 2018 2018 CAST FAQS

Following the success of Urinetown last February, Wycombe Swan Spring Youth Project returns as Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s multi-award-winning musical Sweeney Todd bursts onto the Old Town Hall stage in a ‘razor-sharp’ new production.

We are looking for a cast of enthusiastic, talented and committed young people aged 12-21 to take part in this tasty, thrilling, theatrical treat that has simultaneously shocked and delighted audiences across the world.

In 19th-century London, Sweeney Todd is a prosperous and successful Fleet Street barber – that is until his life is torn apart by a shocking miscarriage of justice. Returning after 15 years with a thirst for revenge, he welcomes clients to his barber’s chair and dispatches them to the cellar below, as he bides his time for a chance to confront the Judge and right that wrong.

The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun!

But will Todd’s insatiable lust for blood prove his undoing?

Due to the nature of a process such as this initially you will be seen in groups. We hope to have given everyone a chance to sing, dance and impress us by 2pm. After this time we will only ask you to stay on if we think we might like to see you later in the day for a part or as one of our main dancers. If you are not asked to stay on it does not mean that you have not been selected as a member of the company. Final selections will be made when all auditionees have left after the Audition Day. You will be notified in writing within two weeks whether you have been successful or not.

Please wear comfortable clothes that you can dance in. Please also bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink and a good book or something to do as there can be quite a bit of waiting around as we try to see everyone. A finishing time is hard to predict so please bring a mobile phone or some coins for a pay-phone to call home when you have finished.

Please note: Only people auditioning will be allowed into the audition room.

Although we do everything possible to make the auditions fair there are only a limited number of places available. The decision of the Production Team on the day is final and correspondence will not be entered into.
